Essential Tools for Accurate Site Measurement: Enhance your precision.

When it comes to measuring up your building, site or Mezzanine Floor, accuracy is paramount. Whether you’re an architect, contractor, DIY enthusiast or Mezzanine Floor supplier like us, having the right tools will make all the difference in ensuring your projects are completed efficiently without costly errors. Below are some essential tools that we use and believe everyone completing site measures needs at their disposal.

1.       Tape Measure

The trusty tape measure is still number one in the world of measurement tools and for good reason.  They are the quickest and easiest way to obtain measurements. We use and recommend a Stanley Fat Max as they are durable and can stand out the longest distance allowing you to work around obstructions easier. They also are wide and easy to read. A magnetic tip is a great addition for us being Mezzanine Floor Builders as most parts are steel! You can pick them up at Sydney Tools for around $25.00 – https://sydneytools.com.au/product/stanley-33-732-fatmax-8m-blade-armour-tape-measure

2.       Laser Level

Gone are the days of relying on a traditional bubble level for straight lines. A laser level brings site measurement accuracy to a new level. They project a beam of light that is always level and square, providing a perfect line of reference.

We use the Laser level when measuring up for a Mezzanine Floor by checking the post locations level, allowing us to accurately work out the amount of shims/ levelling plates will be required for the project. This allows us to quote the Mezzanine Floor accurately, whilst also ensuring there are no hold ups in the construction phase whilst waiting for additional parts. There are a myriad of Laser Levels on the market

3.       Laser Measuring Tool

For those who appreciate a mix of traditional and modern technology, Laser Measuring tools are a fantastic addition to your toolkit. You simply push a button, and they shoot a laser across the room or up to the roof and provide the measurement. They can add up volume and area which is particularly useful for us as Mezzanine Floor suppliers as we can advise the customer immediately the size of the Mezzanine regardless of the shape. We use and recommend the CGI brand from Sydney Tools – They are accurate and have survived the bumps we have given it without trouble.

4.       Tablet with Connectivity & Apps

In today’s digital age, having a tablet with connectivity can revolutionize the site measurement process.

We always take photos of the site we are measuring for the Mezzanine Floor installation so we can use them as reference on our drawings or for discussing the project with the customer. They are also great if you want to run your eye back over the site and ensure you have allowed for all of the obstructions such as power-points, downpipes etc.

There are a whole bunch of smartphone applications that are designed for site measurements and planning so it’s worth playing around and working out what suits you.
We use AutoCAD 360 for our Mezzanine Floor Site Measures and Quotes – Not only is this 100% accurate but the file created plugs directly into our Desktop version of AutoCAD which saves us time while maintaining full accuracy.

Conclusion

Being Mezzanine Floor Builders, we believe having the right tools is paramount when completing site measurements. Not only do they assist with accuracy, but they also increase efficiency whilst on site and then at the design phase of the Mezzanine.
From traditional tape measures through to cutting edge digital devices, investing in quality gear will help ensure your project is completely flawlessly.

As technology continues to evolve, embracing these innovations will give you an edge and help streamline your workflow on site – It certainly has for us!
